Children and Grief – Why you SHOULD Let your Children Watch you Grieve

There are times where it's fine and normal to hide our stress, anxiety, fears and hurts from our children.  Yet there are other times when hiding these feelings from them could cause more long-term damage then we realize.I DO hide certain pain points from my children and I recommend you do the same. Children and Grief Children and Grief – We Should Teach them How to Process their Feelings, Not How to Hide Them There are times where its perfectly fine and normal to hide our stress, anxiety, fears and hurts from our children.  And yet there are other times when hiding these feelings from them could cause more long-term damage then we realize. I DO hide certain pain points from my children and I recommend you do the same. As women, we tend to have lots of body image insecurities that we should try our very best NOT to pass on.  don’t hate your...

How to Effectively Deal with A Toddler Tantrum in A Public Place

toddler tantrum | tantrum in public | handing a tantrum Terrible Two’s.  Threenager.  Four going on Fourteen. Parenting a little human is both amazing and horrible all at once.  Your child’s ability to communicate is growing so much and yet the moment something doesn’t go their way they suddenly forget it all.  They forget that they can talk and reason.  It’s back to banshee screaming, leg kicking, rolling down the aisle at Target. I was under the impression that this kind of behavior was limited to two-year-olds but I was wrong.  We are up into the 4’s now and it is showing no signs of stopping. Clearly, I was...

This one thing could be why your toddler is STILL not sleeping well

toddler sleep | baby sleep | how to get your toddler to sleep | does the dockatot work Hey mama. You look tired. When was the last time you got a full nights sleep? Oh, since before your toddler was born? Yea, I feel you. If you are reading this, I am assuming you have gotten to the point where you are just done with these toddler sleep problems! Am I right? And it’s probably not just one problem either. Maybe your toddler isn’t sleeping through the night and he or she is still waking up to nurse. Maybe you have been co-sleeping since they were born but now its just time to take the next step....

How to tell if you are you a selfish mom?

How are you, mama? Feeling like you are in a rut? Underappreciated? Tired? Devalued? It's common for stay-at-home moms to feel this way and there are several contributing factors. Wondering how to deal with mom stress? Use these 5 efficient strategies and take your happiness into your own hands! There is nothing that gets me going more than a selfish mother.  One who ignores her children.  A mom who sees herself as more important.  Her time, Her patience, Her things.  Who decided this type of motherhood was okay? When did we as a society make it socially acceptable to celebrate mediocrity and selfishness in raising children? Motherhood IS the most selfless job that there is.  You create, carry, and birth a human.  That human then relies on you for love, support, nourishment, and safety. Why did you create these children if you then did not want to commit...

Raising a strong-willed child

We are not bad moms, and we don't have bad children. OUr children are smart, and vibrant, inquisitive and strong. I gave birth to what most people would describe “a strong-willed child”.  I personally hate this term.  It’s just a nice way of saying that my daughter is out of control.  Sometimes she is, but she’s also only three.  She hasn’t learned how to properly express the emotions that she is feeling.  Most adults I know don’t do too great of a job at this either. The amount of times that I have gotten irritated looks at restaurants makes me sad.  I get sympathetic glances from other shoppers almost every time we are out.  I see judgement from other...

We are not raising entitled children

I am not buying flowers for my daughters first recital. Why I am not raising entitled daughters. Back Story My Little E was our firstborn, the first grandchild, niece and great-grandchild on both sides.  She went through chemo at 9 months old.  She was loved by her family, her nurses, random strangers.  She was spoiled rotten.  She wasn’t really around many other children for the first few years of her life because she had no cousins, she was very susceptible to disease and I was a SAHM and she never went to daycare. Fast forward. She is a perfectly healthy, wild, loud, little three-year old girl who LOVES life. About the time she was two and...

The Best Gifts for A New Breastfeeing Mom

The best shower gifts for a new mom who plans of breastfeeding Breastfeeding a tiny little human is the most rewarding and challenging thing I have ever done.  One might assume that breastfeeding is this harmonious, natural thing that both mom and baby will instinctively know how to do.  Sometimes it is.  And yet very often it is not. Breastfeeding is a journey, and like any journey you should prepare ahead of time.  Get all your supplies prepped and have them on hand so when the time comes and you NEED something, you’ve got it covered. I am an avid breastfeeding supporter.  When I had my first daughter breastfeeding did not...

How to know if you should co-sleep with your baby

Cosleeping is a hot topic these days. Some claim it is safer and yet others say that co-sleeping could cause your baby to be injured or even die. How do you know if co-sleeping is the right thing for you and your baby?   Co-sleeping is such a highly debated topic these days.  I’m admiting right up front that we have been co-sleeping with our girls since they each came home from the hospital and we LOVE it.  We now have a 3 year old and a 14 month old in our  bed every night and we still LOVE it. -Update- Our girls are now 4 and 2.  We are still co-sleeping at night but the girls do nap in their shared bedroom. Whether you co-sleep or not is totally up to you and your family. I want to share my own opinions...

Instagram post 18097374697100317 Just tryin to live our best lives. We’ve been going through this process of discovering that our best life is much more about the everyday moments and the experiences we make and NOT about the target trips or the size of our closets. Discovering that consumerism is a real thing and that it’s shoved down our throats (and our kids throats) at every turn. But consuming is not living. ☝️ is living. .
