We went to my parents house recently. It was a beautiful day, the kids were excited about swimming in the community pool. ( We purposely bought a house without a pool because it freaks me out way too much to have little ones with such easy access to a pool. ) We head over in our bathing suits only to discover the pool was closed.
Apparently there was an “incident” and it would take 24 hours for the pool to be clean enough to swim in. Of course in my mommy mind “incident” automatically means poop.
I am transported back to my own childhood and the times I too was forced out of the pool because of poop. We could get back in after about an hour in my day and now I’m questioning how clean a pool could have gotten in an hour. Yuck.
How horrible would it be to have to be that mom? The one that has to announce that her child has soiled the pool? The one who ruins all the other children’s day?
Embarrassing. Seriously. I might actually be that mom that pretended it was someone else’s kid.
Good thing is, I never have to worry about my kids pooping in the pool. No, they didn’t come out perfectly potty trained. Both girls have ALWAYS worn reusable a swim diaper.
I first started using them because Little E was so tiny that a regular disposable swim diaper wouldn’t fit her. The smallest ones I could find started at 16lbs and our kids were in the water well before they hit that mark.

Little E was also highly sensitive to regular diapers. We tried so many brands and eventually found that Honest worked perfectly for her but they didn’t have a disposable swim diaper. They did have some very cute reusable ones though. They were just like a pair of panties, elastic in the waist and legs.
I ordered a few pair, got them in and they were a bit snug. We made do for a few weeks until I broke down and bought a few more pair in a bigger size. She wore those until she sized out and I had to order more. We probably had at least 10 in various sizes. Sweet M tried to use these same diapers when she came along but her thighs were not having it.
Then I discovered Beau and Belle Littles. These are an ADJUSTABLE swim diaper. They fit from 8 to 36 lbs. I totally never need to buy swim diapers again. We have several pair and both my girls wear them. I don’t have to worry about whether or not they will fit and I know we will NEVER have poop “incidents”.
Grace tip : Little E is potty trained at this point but I still put a swim diaper on her to be safe.
The girls wear these all the time. Even if we are outside playing in the yard with no water, they are wearing them. I know my kids will be getting dirty and Beau and Belle swim diapers are SO easy to clean. Just toss em’ in the wash and they come out looking brand new every time.
I also love that I’m not having to deal with the disposable diapers. They are ugly, bulky and we always run the risk of an allergic reaction. Sensitive little girls! I’m not having to spend money on something that gets thrown in the trash. It makes my babies bottoms and my pocketbook happy! Bonus points for saving the world one diaper at a time!
Mama do yourself a favor and invest in a pair of Beau and Belle Littles swim diapers. Or maybe two. Or maybe just get them all because choosing just a few of the super cute prints is going to be hard!
