Halloween with kids is SO MUCH FUN, isn’t it?  Trick-or-treating, pumpkin patches, costumes, cookies, decor, and crafting!

My husband and I are kids at heart and we love doing it big for all the kid holidays.  Yes, Halloween is for kids!  Whoever decided that it was okay for adults to dress up in barely-there costumes and have Halloween parties for themselves was an idiot.  Clearly, I have an opinion on this subject.

Moving on.

Halloween crafting and creating with kids can be so much fun.  I love a good classic Halloween kid craft but then you only have so much fridge space right?  Plus they are doing even more stuff at school and it just gets crazy with all the paper crafts.

So, I like to make crafts that can be USED.

I have always loved doing footprint art and hand-print art with my kids BUT I do it in a way that can be used in another way besides just sticking it on the fridge.

In the past I have made, fingerprint flowerpots, serving dishes, coffee mugs and more.  Something that can be used for more than a day or two.

This year I decided to create framed Halloween footprint art with cute sayings that included the year they were made.  I liked the idea of having something we could bring out once a year and enjoy.

I have done footprint art for Halloween before but never got around to framing it.  So this is the year!

I created several 5×7 templates, which you can grab at the end of the post, so they can be printed and the hand or footprint just needs to be added.

While I know that footprint and handprint art is messy and childish by definition I still think it can be classed up a little bit with the tiniest bit of effort.

Just take your time with the prints and present the finished product in a nice frame and voila!  an original work of art.

Toddler Footprint and Handprint Art Tips

First, Infants. If you are doing this Halloween Footprint Art with an infant you might wait until they are asleep.  No wiggly toes or waving hands.

Second, Naked.  Do this project with no clothes because kids will get paint EVERYWHERE.

Third, Bribes.  Candy usually does the trick for me.  I keep dumbbell suckers on hand for photography bribing so this is what I used for the footprint art as well.

Lastly, Be patient.  The kids will think this is the best thing ever.  Or they might think its the worst.  Be patient either way.  It might even take more than one try.  I do footprint art for our families for Christmas every year and it always takes more than one day!

Paint Colors Needed.  Any Green, black and white will work just fine

Paint a medium layer of paint on your child’s foot.  Too thin and it won’t cover and too thick and you won’t get the little wrinkles in the skin.

Let the footprint dry fully before you add any additional elements.
